What is Asset Risk Management (ARM)?
The Asset Risk Management (ARM) capability in the UNDERSTAND module helps you evaluate country-level threat levels and trends based on your linked assets.
While ARA focuses on what has already happened to specific interests, ARM enables you to step back and see where risk is increasing, compare countries, and anticipate what may impact your operations next.
Use ARM to:
Benchmark risk levels across countries or regions
Track the evolution of threats over time
Identify dominant event types or underreported areas
Justify security decisions with structured data
This article will walk you through the six widgets that make up the ARM view, each designed to help you contextualize your assets within a broader geopolitical and risk landscape.
1. Event Code
Displays the total number of relevant events associated with your assets in each country. Helps you understand where volume and exposure are concentrated.
2. Geographic Risk Profile
Summarizes country-specific risk based on recent events, severity, and threat trends. Useful to compare countries side-by-side.
3. Severity Level Distribution
Breaks down all reported events by severity level to give a snapshot of the overall risk intensity in each country.
4. Threat Rating
Shows overall and category-specific threat levels with a trend outlook and visual breakdown. Helps anticipate how the situation may evolve.
5. Top Event Categories
Reveals the most common types of events in a given country or group of countries. Highlights dominant risk drivers.
6. Data Provider Frequencies
Displays how often each source reports from each country. This helps evaluate data reliability, blind spots, or potential bias in reporting.
ARM equips teams to shift from reactive incident tracking to forward-looking analysis. By combining multiple views of country-level risk, you can prioritize mitigation strategies, identify hotspots, and plan smarter for your global operations.
In the next article, we’ll share real-world use cases and best practices to get the most out of the UNDERSTAND module.
